COVID-19 EMERGENCY PERIODS ENDING
The Public Health Emergency (PHE) and National Emergency (NE) ended May 11, 2023. A 60-day Outbreak Period is in place through July 10th, 2023 for the National Emergency tolling deadlines.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Certain services were temporarily expanded to allow coverage at no cost sharing to you during the pandemic. As of May 11, 2023, those expanded benefits are covered at pre-pandemic timelines.
Services potentially impacted are as follows:
- COVID-19 vaccinations
- COVID-19 At Home Tests
- PCR & Rapid Tests Ordered or Administered by a Health Profession
- COVID Treatment
Check with your plan to see which services are impacted due to the end of the Public Health Emergency.
HOW DOES THE END OF THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY IMPACT YOU?
Normal plan timeframes and filing deadlines, which were extended during the NE, will return to pre-pandemic guidelines on July 10, 2023 when the Outbreak Period officially comes to an end.
This means that you will need to pay close attention and ensure you are adhering to your plan’s timeframes for important deadlines, such as:
- HIPAA Special Enrollments
- Claims Timely Filing Deadlines
- Appeals Filing Deadlines
- COBRA Qualifying Event Notification Deadlines
- COBRA Continuation of Coverage Timelines
